Distinctive Wall Patterns

ERWS's retaining walls are designed to be as functional as they are beautiful. Walls can be designed with a multitude of patterns, from a basic coursed pattern to complex mosaic designs. We can also incorporate custom designs in order to depict logos and include cast stone features. Distinct characteristics can be achieved through any of our four basic stone patterns. The following patterns are representative only. Through the use of sawn and chopped stone or the incorporation of pre-cast features, we can provide your project with a distinctive and unique design.

Take a moment and look through our listings of local projects we are either working on or have completed. Choose the category of project that you have an interest in and click the link to listings and pictures pertaining to that categoy. Feel free to contact us through the contact page or by phone with any questions that we can answer for you.

A standard Coursed Pattern is laid out in rows. Coursed patterns can have alternating row heights in order to achieve a unique appearance. Since it is an uncomplicated pattern, these coursed walls will not detract from other architectural features. The standard coursed pattern will compliment the architectural theme of any development.

Mosaic Pattern
walls are faced with random and natural cuts of stone. These patterns are randomly laid, and they give a natural look to the wall. Size, shape, color and texture will be different with each hand cut stone. Over the past few years, the mosaic pattern has become our most popular pattern.

Rip Rap Pattern
Rip-rap or rubble walls are closely related to the walls built by the homesteaders and farmers of the 1800's. These pioneers would take the stones found in their croplands and stack them into walls. The stone used in rip rap walls may be used in their natural shape or split by hand into smaller pieces. A rip rap retaining wall provides any project with a special look that cannot be achieved with concrete products.

Ashlar Pattern

Ashlar Pattern
A favorite among designers, owners and developers is the Ashlar pattern. Placed in elegant designs, this pattern is a work of art in its own right. The stone is hewn into rectangular shapes and tightly fit into a classic arrangement.

Chopped Limestone
Chopped Limestone is typically laid in a coursed pattern. The presence of fossil impressions in many formations adds to the native charm of limestone structures.
